What are we doing

Object of Charity. (1) The object of the Charity shall be the provision and maintenance of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the area of the former Urban District of Sandgate (hereinafter called "the area of benefit") without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, including use for meetings, lectures and classes, and for other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

(2) The said land and building shall be held upon trust for the purposes of a village hall as aforesaid.

Short Term Objectives:  Trustees will prepare audited accounts to be submitted to the Charities Commission. They will take over the day to day running of the hall to ensure the Hall meets Hirers requirements. They will ensure a detailed report is prepared to inform refurbishment decisions.

The current Trustees as elected at the 2009 AGM are: Cllrs Jan Holben & Ruth Dixon with Community Rep Trustees: Ron Lewis (Sandgate Society) and Geoff Daniels (Mens Club). Within a month of the AGM the following people were also seconded onto the committee:

Elspeth Rae, Richard Grundy and David Cowell

Sadly the 2009 AGM  was quite poorly attended -

but we hope that over the coming months we

can bring local people to the realisation that The

Chichester Memorial Hall belongs to Sandgates

Community and needs to be used and

supported by them if it is to have a future.

A challenging schedule of fundraising events

Is being planned by the committee to support

significant refurbishment requirements.
