Sandgate has many clubs,
classes, meetings and activities which occur weekly or monthly - these are

Coffee Morning:
St Pauls Church in collaboration with the Parish Council hold
regular Coffee Mornings the 1st Thursday and 3rd Tuesday of every month at Sandgate
Library. Come along - enjoy coffee or tea with home made cakes
whilst meeting new or old friends for a chat - 10am - 11.45am on the
3rd Tuesday each month. Throughout the winter months this is reduced
to once per month.
Sandgate
Writers Circle:
A friendly group of Sandgate people who meet monthly on Thursdays
from 10 to 12pm at Sandgate Library (across the road from St Pauls
Church). Fixtures for 2010 include: 11th February The
Perfect Man, 11th March Short Story (500 word), 8th
April Informal, 13th May - My Writing Club, 10th
June If only. . , 8th July A very short story (100
words), 12th August My Greatest Regret, 9th
September Informal, 14th October A Good Deed, 11th
November My Perfect Christmas, 9th December My New

DECURIA YOUTH GROUP:
If you are 11 to 18 you are welcome to come along on Monday evenings
7 to 9pm to the Decuria Youth Group which is based at:
B Company HQ, Church Road, Cheriton, CT20 to join in a range
of games and activities. This youth group is run by professionally
trained volunteers and is FREE. The Autumn schedule of activities
include: Drum workshop, DJ Training, Rambles and more.
Sandgate Art
Group:
This small informal Art Group meet Wednesday mornings at
Chichester Memorial Hall (opp The Ship Inn) - between 9.30am to
12noon. If you would like to know more please contact Carol on 01303

Farmers Market:
A Big Thank you to Sandgate residents and local people for coming
along to our two Christmas Fayres and making them such a success. We
hope that we can continue to entice you along to Sandgate High
Street to buy your freshly baked bread, home made cakes, eggs, fruit
and veg, honey, meats, cheese, olives and other goodies as well as
taking the opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a slice
of cake whilst you catch up with friends and acquaintances. Farmers
Market and Tables Fayres start in 2010 - in The Chichester Hall,
Sandgate High Street. Farmers Markets are 1st and 3rd
Saturdays each month from 10am to midday. For further information

Reading Group:
Are you interested in joining a Reading Group which meets regularly
in Sandgate Library and where you can have a lively discussion about
any one of hundreds of books? If you would like to know more about

Table Fayres:
A Table Fayre will be held on the last Saturday of each month the
first one for 2010 will be in March. For more information about the
Table Fayres or to book a table please call Ruth after
6.30pm on 01303 248724. All proceeds from
Table Hires going towards the Chichester Hall refurbishment fund.
Sandgate Childrens Craft Club
The new Childrens Craft Club
will take place monthly at Sandgate Library (across the road from St
Pauls Church) for children aged 2 to 11 who should be accompanied by
a parent or guardian. Future dates include: Further information from
Parish Clerk on 01303 248563. These Craft Clubs are free of charge -
sponsored by St Pauls and Sandgate Parish Council. Dates for 2010
include: Thursdays 18th Feb @ 2 pm, 8th April @ 2 pm, 3rd June @ 2
pm, 5th august @ 2 pm, 28th October @ 2 pm and Saturday 18th Dec @
10 am. The Childrens Craft Club is collecting items which are
generally thrown away but which can be used by the children to make
things. If you have any of the following items please take them
along to the Sandgate Library; fabric for decoration, wool, yogurt
pots, cardboard tubes, old cards for cutting and sticking, small
boxes, cardboard egg boxes, ice-cream tubs for storage.
The Flock
There is a free group for adults and their pre school children
at St Georges Church (just round the corner from Sandgate Primary
School), called The Flock. It meets on Fridays during term time from
1.30 until 3.00 pm and is run by Polly Davis (one of the school
Mums) and Kate McNiece (The Curate of St Georges). There are crafts,
toys, Sunday School style stories and we sing nursery rhymes...and
and there is tea and biscuits too. Please come along and join us.
Folkestone Decorative and Fine Arts Society (FDFAS):
FDAS
celebrates its 30th anniversary year in 2008. FDFAS arranges
lectures and visits on subjects relevant to our interest in the arts. We
also aim to provide, through our activities, a convivial meeting place for

Cubs & Beavers
Group:
Boys and girls are welcome to join the Sandgate Cubs
group (age 8 +) and the NEW Sandgate Beavers group (age 6 - 8) - which
is held in the Scouts Hut in The Undercliffe, Sandgate. For more
information ring Sharon Humphries on 279038 after 6pm. The
Beavers meet at 5.30pm and this is followed by the Cubs who meet at
7pm - on Wednesday evenings.
Scouts:
The Scouts meet on Wednesday evening after the Cubs and Beavers
meeting - at the Scouts Hut, The Undercliffe, Sandgate. For more

St Pauls Church:
Regular
services at St Pauls are: Sundays at 8am - A contemplative Communion
service (BCP), Sundays at 10.30am - A choice of services each month:
1st Sunday - Sunday Praise - a varied style of brief, visual
worship, 2nd Sunday - Healing Eucharist, 3rd Sunday - Morning
Prayer, 4th Sunday - Eucharist. 1st Sundays at 6pm - Evening Prayer,
Wednesday at 6.30pm - Prayer Circle, Tuesday & Thursday at

Jazz Appreciation:
Jazz Appreciation Society (abbreviated to JASS - which is the original
spelling of Jazz!!) - Listen to some

10.00pm - but members sometimes meet in The Provi for a quick pre

FHODS:
Activities
organised by FHODS - Open Auditions,
Tower Theatre Open Days, Workshops
etc. - all open to the public. Website at

nights are now New Work Nights. The crew will meet every Wednesday
night at the Tower Theatre to either build the sets for the next
production or in between time to do bits an pieces of maintenance. The
crew are opening the doors and asking anyone with spare time to a
Wednesday night to come and join them. Do not be put off by the term
maintenance - you will only be asked to do tasks you are comfortable
with which might be as simple as footing a ladder for some other brave
soul to complete a more difficult task. It is hoped that in a while
when there are enough people attending to open the bar and return to
the old days when FHODS had a regular club night. So do not be shy
come along next Wednesday night at 7.30pm and join in the fun. More

Wellness Club:
Are you fed up with yo-yo dieting and

Sandgate Mens Club:
On the ground floor of the Chichester Memorial Hall is the Mens
Club. Founded in the 1800s the Club has leased the hall for decades
and its wood lined bar and two table snooker room is a popular
meeting place for old and new members alike. Why not pop in as a
Guest and if you like the quiet environment which is perfect for
reading the newspaper, chatting to friends or playing a game of
snooker, perhaps you will like it so much that you will want to
become a full member?
