How To:

Put a hyperlink on a single word or many words (back to the forum)

  1. capture the url of the webpage you want to link to - it will look something like
    http://www.sandgate-kent.org.uk/forum.htm
  2. write the words 'click here for the Sandgate forum' - (or any other words that you want to turn into a hyperlink) into the body of your forum post - and add the url you captured plus a bit of html coding - like this
    <a href="http://www.sandgate-kent.org.uk/forum.htm">click here for the Sandgate forum</a>

Place a thumbnail sized image onto a forum posting (back to the forum)

  1. capture the url of the image by hovering over the image and right clicking on the mouse and selecting 'copy shortcut' - copy and paste this url into the body of your post - it will look something like this
    http://www.sandgate-kent.org.uk/imagename.jpg

  2. now place a bit of html coding round the image url (this will give you a thumbnail sized image on the forum posting) - like this
    <img src="http://www.sandgate-kent.org.uk/imagename.jpg" height="100" width="150">

Put a hyperlink on a thumbnail sized image so that it links to a full sized image (back to the forum)

once you have created the image link (as above) you may wish to add a hyperlink so that when viewers click on the thumbnail sized image they go to the full sized image.

  1. to put a hyperlink on a thumbnail sized image - it will look like this
    <a href="http://www.sandgate-kent.org.uk/bird.jpg" target="_blank" ><img src="http://www.sandgate-kent.org.uk/bird.jpg" height ="100" width="150"></a>

And finally - if you want to put an image on the forum that does not already exist on a website - send it to me on email (janet@sandgate-kent.org.uk) and I will upload it on the Sandgate website - and then you can link to it using some of the coding above. And finally, finally, if you put a posting on and it all goes horribly wrong - let me know and I will delete it for you. (back to the forum)
