The Sandgate Society

The Sandgate Society was founded by Mrs Ruby Estelle Greenwall, J.P., in 1962 in an attempt, though just too late to save the Royal Kent Hotel, an ancient coaching inn, from demolition (now the site of the Sir John Moore Court). Founder members included Lola Lachlan, Dennis Vorley, Frank Norden, Mrs Joan Bennette, Mary Green and Mrs Linda Rene-Martin.

Current committee members are: Roger Joyce - Chairman, Jill Partridge - Secretary, Carole Williamson - Membership, Christian Barret - Advertising, Ron Lewis - Coastline, John Cutmore - Planning, Penny Visman - Events Programme, Frank Pyke - Treasurer, Euan Williamson - Vice Chairman and Chairman of Editorial Committee, Liv Patterson - Saturday Rota & David Everitt. Reg Turnill is the Society President.
