A memorial bench dedicated to Geoffrey Edmunds, which was originally placed in Sandgate by The Sandgate Society has turned up more than 150 miles away after washing ashore on a beach in Chapel St Leanards, Lincolnsire.
While walking their dog, a couple named Lisa and Neil discovered the bench and noticed the memorial plaque attached to it.
Realising it was dedicated to someone and had likely travelled a long way, they kindly contacted the Society ad carefully removed the plaque to prevent it from being lost or further damaged.
It is thought Storm Goretti which broke on 9th January, swept the bench away. Thanks to their thoughtfulness, the plaque has safely made its way back to Sandgate.
